Will it carry the load?

We measure the headroom on your main switch before we quote, not after the gear is on site.

Why our quote looks different

The quote with the workings shown.

Buyers get energy quotes thousands apart for the same job because the cheap ones leave off the load calc, the cable sizing and the compliance. Here is everything that is on ours.

The scope and compliance sheet
  1. 1 Load calculation. Your actual demand worked out and shown, not a system size guessed off the roof.
  2. 2 Cable sizing + run length. Sized for the inverter or charger and the distance, not the cheapest roll on the van.
  3. 3 Switchboard assessment. Spare capacity, RCD and surge protection, fault level. Checked before anything is added.
  4. 4 System sized to your bill. Solar and battery sized to your usage and load profile, not to the headline rebate.
  5. 5 Make + model, named. The exact panel, inverter, battery or charger on the quote, not "good panels".
  6. 6 Warranties, itemised. Product, performance and workmanship listed separately with their years, so you can compare like for like.
  7. 7 Compliance paperwork. CES, Certificate of Compliance and as-builts named as deliverables, plus STCs handled and shown as a line.
If a quote does not show these lines, you cannot compare it, and you do not know what has been cut.

  • Cable sized to the job
  • Switchboard checked first

  • No CoC or as-builts
  • "Good panels", brand unnamed
  • "10-year warranty", undefined

How it runs

From site assessment to signed-off documents.

1

Site + load assessment

We measure the load, read the switchboard, check supply and phase, and look at roof or cable routes.

2

Design + scope sheet

You get the load calc, cable sizing, the named equipment and an itemised quote. The workings are on the page.

3

Contract + schedule

Fixed scope, STCs and rebates shown as a line, a start date that fits your trading or build program.

4

Install

Licensed install to AS/NZS 3000, staged around live sites and tenants where needed.

5

Test + certify

Every circuit tested, RCDs proven, Certificate of Compliance issued. Solar and battery commissioned and monitored.

6

Handover + docs

As-builts, test results, warranties, monitoring set up, and a walk-through of how it runs.

Honest scope

We will tell you which one you actually need, not the biggest job we can sell you.

Option A

Single install or upgrade

One job: a home EV charger, a switchboard upgrade, a fault rectification, a single solar system.

Right when: you know what you need and the board can carry it.
Wrong when: the supply or board needs work first (we will tell you).
$900 – $9,000
Most common

Whole-home energy

Solar plus battery, or solar plus an EV charger, sized together and put on one design.

Right when: you want the bill and the backup sorted in one go.
Wrong when: you only need one piece right now.
$12,000 – $30,000
Option C

Commercial + project

Fit-outs, staged works, commercial solar, EV fleet charging, or a maintenance agreement.

Right when: you need one accountable contractor across a site or program.
Wrong when: a single domestic job is all that is in front of you.
$25,000 – $250,000+
Warranty in writing

Three layers, and what each one covers.

Layer 01

Our workmanship

10 years on the install: cabling, mounting, terminations and the board work. Excludes physical damage and faults in supply we did not touch.

Layer 02

Manufacturer

Panel product + performance, inverter, and battery each carry their own years. We name the product on your quote so you can read the actual warranty PDF.

Layer 03

Statutory (ACL + electrical)

Reasonable workmanship under Australian Consumer Law, plus the Certificate of Compliance that says the work meets AS/NZS 3000. Always applies.

Reviews

From homeowners, builders and facilities managers across the Hunter.

★★★★★
“They sized the system to our actual switchboard load, not to the biggest rebate on offer. The load calc was on the quote in plain numbers, so we knew exactly why the array came out at the size it did.”

★★★★★
“Before they quoted the Powerwall they pulled the bills and modelled the payback against our real usage. It came in at the year they said, not a sales figure plucked out of the air.”
— Daniel R., Charlestown

★★★★★
“First thing they did before the home charger was open the switchboard and check it would carry the load. Turned out we needed RCD protection added, and they costed that up front rather than after the fact.”

What does Voltline do? +
We are a commercial and renewables electrical contractor. Five lines under one certifying electrician: commercial electrical, project work, solar PV, battery storage and EV charging. The thread through all of them is that the load calc, the cable sizing and the compliance are on the quote before you sign.
Will solar work in a blackout? +
Not on its own. A standard grid-connected solar system shuts down in an outage for safety, so the grid stays safe for line workers. If you want power during a blackout, that is a battery with a backup gateway, and we can size it with the solar.
Will my switchboard take an EV charger or solar? +
That is the first thing we check. We confirm your phase, spare ways and main switch rating before we quote, because adding load to a full or pre-RCD board is where nuisance tripping and unsafe installs come from. The switchboard scorecard on our pricing page gives you an early read.
How do you size a solar or battery system? +
To your actual usage, not the biggest rebate. We read your bills and load profile, study the shading, and size the system to match, then show the working on the quote. An oversized system sold to the rebate count never pays back.
Are you licensed and CEC accredited? +
Yes. We hold a NSW electrical contractor licence (EC-00000 (DEMO)) and Clean Energy Council accreditation (A0000000 (DEMO)) for solar and battery, and carry public liability to $20M. The numbers go on your quote, not just a logo on the website.
What does the warranty cover? +
Three layers: our 10-year workmanship on the install, the manufacturer warranties on the panels, inverter and battery (each named on your quote), and your statutory rights plus the Certificate of Compliance under Australian Consumer Law. All in writing.
